Episode 48: In this episode the PT Pintcast talks to Kyle Adams. Kyle is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist who started Adams Performance in 2014 to provide a higher level of sports performance and fitness coaching in the greater Richmond area. He received his Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Food and Exercise from Virginia Tech in 2008 and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011. He has also been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA since 2009. Kyle believes the continuum between fitness and injury rehab is only as good as the professional’s knowledge of both realms. He has had the opportunity to apply these principles in working with youth, college and professional athletes, as well as the general public looking to increase his or her level of fitness and quality of life. Plus he discusses: how to incorporate strength and conditioning properly into a rehab program, why test-retesting athletes in the main lifts is important for return to play/fitness, areas where we must improve to become seen as sports medicine experts, entrepreneurship/business opportunities for young PTs, and PT students lack of knowledge regarding exercise!
