Tim is the former head strength and conditioning specialist for the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team.  We talked about his journey through his PT career to where he is now.

Tim’s Bio

TIMOTHY DIFRANCESCO

FAVORITE QUOTE:
“I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.” Thomas Jefferson

WHY I BECAME A DPT:
It appeared to be an excellent way to expand my abilities to help people perform at their best. I saw and heard the best in the business talking and acting within the languages of the physical therapy world – I wanted to learn those languages and skill sets.

FAVORITE WORKOUT:
Workouts that last 15-30 minutes, include lifting heavy shit the right way, hill sprints, and plyometrics are by far my favorite. I love push-ups, deadlifts, loaded carries, chin-ups, and I refuse to apologize for my affection for a good bi’s & tri’s pump!

MOST FULFILLING PART OF THE JOB:
When a person who I’ve been training says “I don’t know what’s going on here but I feel outstanding.” I do like 8 consecutive mental fist pumps when I hear that type of comment.

MOST MEMORABLE PART OF MY JOB WITH THE LAKERS:
Witnessing Kobe score 60 points in his final game.

IS THIS WHERE YOU ALWAYS SAW YOURSELF?
A New England kid ending up working for the Lakers? No, I couldn’t have pictured this. It’s funny how things work out. All I ever saw was simple: Myself in a position to help as many people as I can to feel and perform better than they’ve ever felt.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Graduated from Endicott College with a Bachelor’s in Science/Athletic Training. Graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Doctorate in Physical Therapist. Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.
